On Thursday 3rd October 2019 the football team of Qarabag in Azabajan traveled to Luxembourg where they played F91 Dudelange in the Europa League group stages. They won 4-1.
Qarabag has a big following in Azabijan. They originate from the city of Agdam which is now in ruins. It was once a major city in the disputed territory or Nagorno-karabakh. About 500,000 Azabajani's were displaced by the war, most moving to the capital Baku, where their football team also resides. Their team symbolises 'struggle'.
Dudelange on the other hand is a peaceful place in the south of Luxembourg with a population of just less than 20,000. It rose to fame after the three town clubs united forces in 1991. Dudelange united while between 1988 and 1994 Nagorno-karabakh was in a terrible state. It is currently a tense place on the edge of war.
