3) Birthrite: Creator

The Shoemaker by Jacob Lawrence
The Met, New York

For in him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things have been created through him and for him. Colossians 1:16

In his Bletchley Park speech at the conference on artificial intelligence (AI) Egon Musk asserted that all jobs could be performed by AI in the future.  What planet is he on?  I recalled the exciting film we watched at the  National Air and Space Museum in Washington DC about a plan to explore Europa, a moon of Saturn, for signs of life.  So much effort for what?  After arriving in an orbit around Saturn, a nuclear armed drill bit was to be fired down onto the surface of a frozen ice lake.  The whole lake may be solid ice, but it was conjectured, after about a mile of boring, water might be discovered.  And in this water....?  Apparently there are academics studying inter-planetary evolution.

My thoughts are that the AI I work with right now has taken control of my job.  Please Elon, start by getting AI to work as my servant, rather than my master.  As for exploring Europa, should we not channel this creativity into preventing the catastrophe of watery inundation.  It is visible here in the UK, let alone the countries already experiencing devastation.

I'm not against the idea of exploration, but I wonder whether knowing the Creator in a real and tangible way influences my perspective on  AI and space exploration.  Our Creator can reveal anything to us, and revelations from 2000 years ago make the current use of conjecture and imagination look thin.

The baby who entered our world is far more exciting, with infinitely more potential to change everything about the way we live.  He is also the creator of the universe.

PRAYER: You are the creator who knows what you have done.
