Advent Thirteen - Agape

Joyful Sunday by Seyran Gasparian
On Artsper.com

"If you love those who love you, what reward will you get? Are not even the tax collectors doing that? And if you greet only your own people, what are you doing more than others? Do not even pagans do that? Be perfect, therefore, as your heavenly Father is perfect." Matthew 5:46-48

Perfect love- Agape.  Giving without counting the cost.  Love that looks forward, through open eyes that do not cast back to the self.  Giving that defies the tenants of 'The Self Gene'. Love my enemy.  For me these are people who I view as hopeless at my work, who try to throw their weight around winding people up.

I see the love of Jesus about me.  When I see it, I feel that Jesus is near.  It is amazing.  The talented young student at church who choose to be with the struggling person with mental illness.  The person who sets up a encouragement group in the local mental hospital.  The person who notices, and reacts when So and So's father is made homeless, and arranges for them to sleep in their living room until he can find a more suitable place to live.

PRAYER:  May I have the strength to love as you love us.
