Peter knew he was lucky to have been let off.
And he also had an idea where Jesus would be taken.
With a useful friend, he headed to the Kidron Police Station.
Sure enough, the friend's ID worked and the friend got in: he knew the Police Chief well.
The friend said he would try his luck at getting Peter in too.
Soon the friend was back. He whispered something to the girl behind the desk. She looked over to Peter and jerked her head, indicating that he could enter.
As Peter passed her at the door, she winked, and noted that she had seen him with Jesus on news reports. "Not me," replied Peter, "I'm here on a different matter."
Peter went into the waiting room. A friendly office made everyone a round of warm tea.
Meanwhile in the interrogating room Annas was getting impatient.
He knew it was only a matter of time before Jesus said something incriminating.
"Everything I've said has been witnessed by so many people," Jesus suggested. "Ask anyone to testify."
A guard next to Jesus spun round and punched Jesus in the stomach. "How dare you speak to the boss like that. You're wasting police time." Jesus, recovering said "If I speak in lies, then fine, but everything I say is the truth."
"Enough of this ridiculous farce." said Annas, "Let's take him to Superintendent Caiaphas."
