You shall not bow down to them or serve them, for I the Lord your God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children to the third and the fourth generation of those who hate me, but showing steadfast love to thousands of those who love me and keep my commandments” (Exodus 20:4-6).
Apparently Jealousy is mentioned over 100 times in the Bible. Interesting. We learn that there is 'good' jealousy, and 'bad' jealousy. But this is a really hard verse above, don't you think? There are generations who suffer because their parents-parents-parents were evil. We can see consequences, are transmitted across generation. But I feel that it is mainly injustice against older generations that gets passed down. So let's not mix the two. We know that the Creator's position is to care and be bothered. And to feel the passion of jealousy when we leave the Creator's embrace.
PRAYER: May our relationship be so secure that we never feel jealous.
