Birth of Self Awareness by Melahat Manzouri fard For Sale @ Saatchi Art |
40 Then he returned to his disciples and found them sleeping. “Couldn’t you men keep watch with me for one hour?” he asked Peter.
41 “Watch and pray so that you will not fall into temptation. The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak.”
42 He went away a second time and prayed, “My Father, if it is not possible for this cup to be taken away unless I drink it, may your will be done.” Matthew 26
The Creator knew what was happening from the birth of the human family. We as parents hope for the best, and are often surprised when our children reject or abuse us. Jesus likewise became aware of his destiny as he grew. By the age of 13 (Bar Mitzvah age), Jesus was fully aware of his mission and destiny. He understood the story as if he had watched the film from beginning to end, and then seen it again in reserve.
The rest of humanity struggles. It clings to vague notions of selective breeding, and natural law. It assumes that the mission of life is survival. Jesus' mission is glorious, and we are part of it.
PRAYER: What a privilege to be aware of your presence and purpose around me.
