Four and Counting - Things can only get better

“La Jérusalem céleste“, extraite de la Tapisserie de l'Apocalypse du Château d'Angers, France.

As the life of the world comes to an end, people from all nations will come to their creator.

The creator will be on the highest mountain, all people will acknowledge the creator and bring

perfect praise and honour. The mountain is called Zion.

The creator will mediate between the nations and help them to settle differences.

Peace, unknown before, will be declared.

Weapons of destruction will be converted to useful means.

The decedents of Judah will walk in the light of their creator.

All meaningless wealth, powerful weapons, scheming alliances,

All this will be brought low - nothing will stand.

Don’t put your confidence in human power; ultimately it’s as frail as breath.

Isaiah Chapter 2.

Isaiah speaks these comforting words.  At the present we do not see this message in action.

A survey published in the Lancet shows similar high levels of anxiety about the state of the world amongst children.

Hickman et al (2021) Climate anxiety in children and young
people and their beliefs about government responses to climate
change: a global survey.  The Lancet - Planetary Health.

It's not looking very good.  This is when it is necessary to trust that the one who creates is the one who decides how far things go.  The message is that goodness prevails.  But as we look forward to Christmas we know how this story turns out, with the emphasis on twists and turns.
