Is it too dangerous to mention Zionism?

I am thinking about the interesting mess at is Middle East politics-  the so called 'Holy Land' - perhaps better described as the hole-y land.

We will never know whether Zac Polanski might have won the by-election in Holborn and St Pancras if his party had not voted to describe 'Zionism' as racist.

These are my thoughts:-

In politics it does not matter if your argument is sound and moral.  It is the intention noted by the words with will matter more.  It is Heart over Head. It is not what you say, but what you mean.

The Holyland will remain a paradox for some time to come.  It feels that there are no winners.  The current apparent winners may not be winners in the long run, and visa-versa.

Through it all there continue to be amazing people with crystal clear voices speaking of hope and reconciliation.

My daughter and I saw the young Jewish orthodox men campaigning with others at UCL, against the destruction in Gaza.

The politics is always about power and control in the face of insecurity and fear.

In a dream world, the Palestinians and Jews will work it out together and live side by side....as they did in the ottoman empire (when neither side had much power).

Tragically what has been going on in the Holyland (as I am calling it) has been seen around the work.  What happened when the UK pulled out of India/Pakistan, Cyprus, when Ghaddafi's rule in Libya was toppled, Saddam Husain in Iraq.  The world is sadly full of examples of people not being able to live side by side.

At the moment the one state solution appears to be as credible as suggesting that Ireland and the UK could recombine into one country and live peacefully.
