Thirtieth Day of Lent - Betrayal

Kiss of Judas (1304–1306), fresco by

47 While he was still speaking a crowd came up, and the man who was called Judas, one of the Twelve, was leading them. He approached Jesus to kiss him, 48 but Jesus asked him, “Judas, are you betraying the Son of Man with a kiss?” Luke 22

Have you ever experienced betrayal?  I can't say that I have, but I can imagine it is like a knife entering the heart.  The closer the trust, the deeper the pain.  Jesus was ready for this one.  Did that help?  Peter's weakness was nothing compare to betrayal synonymous with murder.  And yet Jesus did not allow Judas' behaviour to dictate his own.  He remained true to Judas.

PRAYER: May you never doubt me.  Help me to remain true and courageous to the last.
