And Jesus said to him, “Foxes have holes, and birds of the air have nests, but the Son of Man has nowhere to lay his head.” Matthew 8 verse 20
Poverty is the terrible injustice of eternity. No one should be hungry. No one should be in need. With the word poverty comes injustice. To be rich is to oppress the poor. As with all discrimination (as made visible in this picture}, we all suffer. But Jesus speaks of a different form of poverty and wealth. Jesus chooses poverty in order to achieve a greater purpose not made possible through wealth. Poverty of the spirit is as serious as poverty of the body. We must never be complacent about the poverty around us. We must never be complacent about spiritual poverty either.
PRAYER: My eyes are open. I see my great need for you.
