The voice of the Lord breaks the cedars, the Lord breaks the cedars of Lebanon. He makes Lebanon leap like a calf and Sirion like a young bull. Psalm 29 5-6
The Maronite Institute records the 71 times in the Hebrew scriptures Lebanon is referenced. A lot of these reference trees. Sometimes the trees are symbolic for other messages.
With the cedar featuring on the national flag, I think of Lebanon when I walk in my neighbourhood and see these fine fully grown trees. The Psalmist is also inspired by the natural awe the tree inspires. The voice of the Lord is greater and higher than the lofty things about us.
PRAYER: We pray that the faith of the people of Lebanon will stand firm and strong.
